Previously I was experimenting with a good procedure to be able to perform facial recognition and facial tagging, with the requirement that this information should be interchangable (at best stored within the photo itself)
At that time Picasa corrputed some Exif data and there where no good tools to insert the Picasa data into the images. Sadly enough ... is not a too stable application, the interface requires a lot of clicks also because the recognition is not always too obvious. Since there was too little progres in the ... application and there was some progress with the Picasa application I found that I shoud give Picasa another shot.
Picasa still seems to corrupt some exif info, but they seem to have managed to fix all 'normal maker notes and normaly used fields' now there is only something to keep in mind when using GPS fields.
My findings:
- The interface to tag has even envolved a bit since last time and you may call it lovely
- The images seem to be left unchanged while performing the tagging process (still have to test what's hapening when setting keywords and other fields)
- Using AvPicFaceXmpTagger (now at version 1.7) you can do what's missing in Picasa.. insert the tag data into the images.
p.s. i'm still evaluating, but if this works i'm going to spend a few bucks and donate.
This to remember:
- From all taggin options choose only XMP-MP Tags/Add tags/Picasa faces and IPTC-Keyword Tags/Add tags/Picasa face name
- AvPicFaceXmpTagger only imports the contact during startup; (if you used Picasa while apfxt was open, then reopen before executing!)
setting 276 faces in 687 images took about 1m45 remember to shutdown picasa to speed up the process
damn.. somethings corrupt; keep getting fffffff people returning and peoples name plus (100%) ???? |

In this FAQ I'll put some interesting things i've encountered while trying to be a real geocacher ;-)
My Sony-Ericsson Xperia X1 has a 'gpsOne Qualcomm' chipset, which has enabled 'static navigation (SN)'. SN can be turned off if you have a Sirf 3 chipset, but it seems that on my chipset it's always on :(. If you have the Sirf3 chipset, you might be able to disable SN with the SirfTech tool.
Some words are abreviated.
Geocaching Workflow
preparations:
- Become premium member of GeoCaching.com, or install Geocaching.com GPX Downloader (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/45777/)
The real field work
- use GCzII or GateCacher to find your GC and log it (I'm going to tel you about field logs later)
Keeping track of your GC activities
- Log your activity using GCzII, GateCacher or using GeoCaching.com directly
- visit the GC page of Geocaching.com
- click on the GPX icon and save the GPX file towards the desktop
- double click on the GPX file (GSAK will add it to your database)
- Delete the GPX file
- add the missing field:
- Country
- found/not found? Then add the time of the activity to user data field 'User'

| Het was weer zover.. 3 dagen (of 4, 5, ... ) feesten!

| On the internet we found the urban location Verlipack / Jumet. After driving for more than an hour we found... almost nothing. It seemed not long ago everything was removed. Only an empty field with 1 chimney, 1 iron barn and some crushed glass was there to be found. The weater wasn't to good (had to take some pictures from under a plastic sack), but hey... we brought some pictures home with us! And that will be the last pictures anyone could take.. Ever... |
